The seed for the paintings in this exhibition was no doubt cast years ago when my portrait photography metamorphosed into multi-image portraiture. It was my intention then and remains so today to communicate a person in multiple images. I use the term Fragmentation which is quite the opposite of Cubism which is the study of an image dissected and reorganized on the surface so as to see the images’ parts in an orderly fashion. My work approaches images in a built up approach rather than in dissection as in Cubism. It begins with a portrayal of the linear essence of the image and then adds fragments and builds the image creatively to reveal a new as yet image of the subject. Since art is intellectual the whole effort is to reveal a new and creative expression of the image. As fragments are added, shape is played first, then color, and finally texture. The image is then enlarged and color variations are addressed until the compound image reaches a state of vitality. It is my intention to bring these images to life, through my consciousness and my subconsciousness.

These mono-prints were printed on 100% Cotton Rag with ultra chromatic pigments and sealed with a cross-link ultra violet protective co-polymer spray. Each mono-print is a singly produced original.
