The Tidewater Art Center and Gallery will again be hosting its annual Stockton High Schools’ Student Art Show. This year the Tidewater will be partnering with the Mexican Heritage Center to present artwork by local high school students.

The show will be exhibited at the Mexican Heritage Center located at 111 Sutter Street in Stockton, California from April 3rd through April 30th, 2012. The reception will be held on Friday, April 13th at 6:00 PM with the mayor presenting awards to the winning artists in each category: Sculpture/Ceramics, Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel and colored pencil, Drawing, Collage, Prints, Still Photography, Digital fine art, Graphic Art, and Cinematography.

Thanks to support by the Stockton Artists’ Commission we will be offering cash prizes along with ribbons to first, second, and third place winners. The Best of Show will also have the privilege of exhibiting his or her art on the Tidewater’s virtual gallery on our website http://www.tidewaterart.com.

Tidewater Selections Artist Reception

An artist reception will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 from 5:30-7:30pm with Spanish guitarist Jesse Hendricks providing live entertainment. The exhibition will be open for free to the public on the 1^st and 2^nd floors at the San Joaquin County Administration Building, 44 North San Joaquin Street from January through February 2012.

The Tidewater Art Gallery will be presenting, Tidewater Selections, a new exhibition from March 2^nd through April 30^th. The exhibition will feature selection works by local artists.

The Tidewater Art Gallery will be presenting, Tidewater Selections, a new exhibition from March 2nd through April 30th. The exhibition will feature selection works by local artists Henry Paine, Jorge Elizalde, Linda Abbott Trapp, Susan Winton, Daryl Todd, Patricia Jordan Rutan, and Arturo Vera. Selected works will include watercolor, photography, oil paintings and hand-crafted jewelry.

These selected works allow the public to experience first-hand the breadth of artistic works created by artists from the Stockton area, juxtaposing fluid watercolors with vivid color prints alongside striking traditional black and white photography. This exhibition explores the depths of abstract versus naturalism and realism.

When: March 2nd – April 30
